Violence ≠ Democracy 

Political violence is destructive in a democracy for a lot of obvious reasons, but one reason is that it gives control over our ability to make decisions to random bad actors. We should not give to a random person, whatever their motivations…our ability to make a decision about the fate of the country. And that requires being honest about the threat Donald Trump poses… The fact that this happened does not remove Trump’s menace…and the sooner we get back to having that debate, the more of a failure this assassination attempt will be.
