Spring Comes To Fluid Imagination

Easter is all about Jesus rising from the dead, right? Well, what better way to celebrate the risen Lord than a slight re-design of Fluid Imagination?
Is that blasphemy? Very well. I’m a blasphemer.
As you can see, I haven’t made too many changes to the design. I’ve kept the background color the same, but adjusted all [...]

Interview with Josh Bloom

From FlashBlog’s Interview with Josh Bloom: “A while back I had the pleasure of returning to my previous employer, frog design, to interview Josh Bloom about his work on the Disney travel AIR application. This is definitely one of the nicest looking desktop applications that I’ve ever seen. In the video Josh walks us through [...]

YouTube Passes Debates to a New Generation: “The presidential debates are about to enter the world of YouTube…YouTube and CNN are co-sponsoring a debate among the eight Democratic presidential candidates on July 23 in South Carolina, an event that could define the next phase of what has already been called the YouTube election, a visual [...]

Theme Update

Well, it’s that time of the month again. With my grad-school requirements all taken care of for the semester, I finally found the hours I needed to install and tweak a new theme for Fluid Imagination. Can you say “new and improved icon system?” (and broken “Asides” too?).

Great Tea Package Design

From Reinventing The Tea Bag: “The bags have paper arms on the sides that fold out in order to make them into a single-use filter. In essence, it is not that different from the function of a normal tea bag but now the tea inside is effectively loose because, before placing the tea in your [...]

Some of you have probably noticed by now that the NY Times has redesigned its web page. While the editor has posted a little introduction to the thing, those of you who may be interested in the actual details of the redesign may be interested in this blog post by one of the designers who [...]

Things I Learned During the Week of Jan. 29 - Feb. 3

Every week (for at least two weeks in a row now), I write up a list of all the things I’ve learned over the past week. This is a special little treat that I like to file under Gobbledygook. But enough of the explanatory note. On with the show.
Here’s what I learned this week…

…from moving [...]

New Colors

Well, I got the colors and new logo done. There’s still a few things I can’t quite figure out. Those little gray areas at the top of the “Nifty Box” on the front page, for example. And the navigation at the top of the “single post” page is screwed up, as is the giant space [...]

I know, I know…

As some of you may have noticed, this whole place looks a lot different. Before you yell at me, let me say that I don’t like it. It’s all gonna get changed around in the next few days. I’m going to go back to the previous theme (the one you all liked), but I need [...]

A new beginning

There’s going to be an awful lot of talk going around this week about Apple Computers. On Tuesday, the company’s annual Macworld starts off with a Steve Jobs keynote, in which one of the last superstar CEOs is expected to announce the first Apple computer ever to use the Intel processor. No one knows exactly [...]
