You can use any artist you want.

And while it is a game, there is no winner. This is one of those things that are "just for fun." You'll have to do something else to satisfy your competitive urges.

I don't get it. Can you explain the rules a little more clearly please. Can I pick any artist or do I need to stick to Wilco. And how do you win. It's a game isn't it?

I can't help but wonder if some of the other new comments from funny names are generic statements that can be applied to any blog site with a hip agenda.

Also: Am I still beating Adam by a considerable margin? I'm now keeping track by carving lines on my forearm.

Well I firmly understand that we are spiritual beings not just bits of meat.

A gene may be a gene but without the spark of life it is just a piece of protoplasm.

One can get to the point where one KNOWS that one is a spiritual being, not believe it.

Then it becomes academic and the question then is, what type of spiritual being and where does it fit in with the universe as we see it?

Michael was definitely a unique individual and will go down in the history of music as a great entertainer. Always the eccentric, it was inevitable that he was often misunderstood. People always fear what they do not understand.

It is sad that the press has turned his passing into a "cirque macabre". His children deserve better memories than this.

"And can it be that in a world so full and busy the loss of one creature makes a void so wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth of eternity can fill it up!"-- Charles Dickens (1812-1870)

Michael was the best thing that ever happened to music as far as bridging the "gap" between Rock and R&B. He also convinced me to give disco a try before it was cool with my age group. I loved Thriller, but Off The Wall was my favorite.

He invented and re-invented many aspects of the entertainment business. Everybody else has been playing catch-up ever since.

And yet he was so human on his private side. So complex. And, I'm sure, not fully understood, at least certainly not by the public.

His accomplishments will not soon be eclipsed, will they?

Kyle, thanks for the update on the committee.

I read over the list of major legislation in Congress and I was struck by how invasive some of the proposed legislation actually is. One in particular that I find troubling is the Healthy Americans Act.

On the surface, the name sounds benign (reminds me of Bush's Clear Skies Initiative and how innocuous it sounded). But then the reality sets in that everyone will be required by law to carry health insurance. Those who can't afford it will get government help so that they can. There goes more money down the rat hole.

I guess the best thing is to keep your eyes open and if needed, deluge your senators and congressmen with email and phone calls if the need arises.

Ben Franklin said it best: "We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately."

I only did a search on the first couple items on their agenda, but it looks like most of the bills have been proposed and referred to committee. I didn't go any further than that, but at least they've been proposed.

As for the rest of the 111th Congress's activity, check out Wikipedia's list of their major legislation.

I wonder if the members "Democratic Middle Class Working Group" have been laid off? I haven't noticed any progress on any of the subjects. Seems like the same old dog and pony show going on.

Even with a majority in the Senate (courtesy of Al Franken), I don't look for anything to come out of this congress or any of the upcoming ones in the immediate future.

Now that is an interesting opinion piece. I expected a puff piece and was surprised.

In reading his analysis of Obama's various speeches (especially hisbCairo speech), I was struck with the realization that Obama is trying to use neuro-linguistic programming in his speeches. He uses subtle trigger words and emphasis pacing to try and deliver a message at a deeper, subconscious level. I find this worrisome at best and something to be concerned about.
