I Have A Warm Feeling
As I was reading how Obama counters Bush on auto standards, I was overcome by a warm feeling. President Obama is doing things that just make common sense, and it’s what this country has been missing for the last decade.
With the recession at full speed, it’s comforting to know that that things are changing. We are moving forward. But also — and in a good way — a little backwards too. While we might see some of the bigger stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Target, etc.) slowly close their doors, the Mom & Pop stores will make a small comeback. We may get to an age — commercially speaking — that is similar to the 1950s and 60s, but with a modern twist.
A perfect example is the return of “layaway.” Instead of people putting their new 42″ plasma flatscreens on their credit cards, people are putting it on layaway and paying for it over six months. People are stepping back and rethinking how they purchase, and that makes me feel warm inside.
As for the Boston.com article, I like how President Obama is letting the States dictate how the Federal government will act. That’s how it should be.
