I can’t even watch it. She is terrible. If McCain wins I will have lost all hope for this place.

yeah… - i’m not going to get into it in vivid detail… - but… - in these debates… - it seems like the democratic candidates spend half their time correcting or clarifying what the republican candidates say…

as for palin… - you could argue that she was ready for the debates and quick on the draw… - i see it as being more like someone pulling a string and her parroting a talking point… - it wasn’t a debate more than it was an orgy of campaign slogans of “maverick” and “reform” this and “reagan” and “darn it” that…

i thought that biden was a little shaky at first… - but… - he pulled in the reigns at the end…

He was not great but she did not answer one question that I could tell. She actually got better but was just pretty much just reading a script. The problem is that everyone was expecting a disaster and it wasn’t so does that mean she won?

[Edited by Moderator: Combined several consecutive comments into one]

you’re right… - biden wasn’t great… - but… - his destruction of the “maverick” image of mccain was a big highlight and strong moment for him… - another was when he was talking about his family…

as to whether or not she won because everyone expected her to bomb… - i don’t know… - i don’t care… - an idiot might like her manner… - but… - people said the same thing about george w. and his ability to connect with the “folks” across our beacon of light… - however… - we’re talking about trying to fix a country that has been decimated inside and out for the past eight years for the most part… - and just by listening to her annoying voice squabbling about “freedom”… - she’s definitely not what we need now…

she was overly kissing mccain’s butt is what i’m getting at… - even more so than she was actually laying out plans as to how she’s going to make america better…

and another thing… - i’m still hearing about suicide bombings and people dying in iraq… - and i know it’s impossible to control every single thing that happens… - but… - as far as the surge working… - c’mon… - it’s not as rosy a scenario as the republicans would have you believe… - they talk about the surge and the winning of the war in the same tone as they would if they were describing a wedding that they attended… - it’s such a bunch of crap… - the democrats too… - i’m sick of them all… - same old story… - taxes… - main street… - healthcare… - patriotism… - horse shit…

Biden/Palin last night…not bad for Palin. She didn’t embarrass herself, and I’m sure her base is happy (although that could also be a reflection on how uninformed some of them are…”Americans are cravin’ that straight talk”…yay!)

Biden was very good, although I wonder why he didn’t pursue her on questions she didn’t address? He did that at the beginning, but then stopped. I wonder if there’s any stats on the questions she completely avoided? I don’t see how, as a moderator or opponent, she’s allowed to get away with that.

Dave they are comparing before and after and using those guidelines it has been more successful then not.

I’ll say one thing for Gov. Palin. She comes through when she needs to.

When the convention speech needed to be a home run, she knocked it out of the park.

At the debate, the goal had changed a little. She didn’t need a home run, but she needed to not strike out, and that’s what she did. She kept the game alive.

There were on item I wanted to fact check from the debate.

It was when Palin seemed to put Biden on the defensive regarding whether “surge principles” would work in Afghanistan. You can find it at about the 55:00 minute mark on the NY Times’ debate analyzer.

Well, it seems the Afghanistan commander, McKeirnan (who Palin wrongly identified as “McClellan,” which she might have pulled in from her knowledge of Civil War history), did say that an Iraq-styled surge wouldn’t work in Afghanistan. Rather than a surge, Gen. McKeirnan thinks we need a sustained commitment that would last many years and would “ultimately require a political, not a military, solution.”

she hit it out of the park if you’re a republican spokesperson… - yes… - her performance made it that much easier to compliment her and steer the conversation away from her bogus interviews… - and again… - i predicted that joe biden would take it easy on her for fear of looking like a bully if he didn’t… - so now we have to deal with the media confusing that with her readiness…

and justin… - guidelines or no guidelines… - they’re still spending the same amount of money as they were when they were bombing the hell out of iraq… - and i’m just sick and tired of the tone they use when they describe the surge… - it’s like they’re describing something delicious to eat when it’s far from that… - it’s an act… - it’s a talking point… - it’s not a victory… - it’s not a cherry on top of a sundae more than it is a cherry on top of a pile of shit…

Dave you just hate the war and no matter what happens over there it will not matter, you will still hate it.
