Quick note as we enter into what will likely be a heyday for Fluid Imagination.
First, I want to thank everyone who has been reading this site for the last few years. As we all know, Kyle has done an excellent job managing the site and maintaining its (often) high level of content and quality. So thank you Kyle.
Second, many of you have commented that the last few months have represented a bit of a renaissance for the site as Kyle has been linking to an abundance of interesting and thought-provoking articles. These articles have generated some great comment threads and have furthered the overall sense of an active, intelligent, and genuinely-interested little community (roughly 225 unique visitors a week!).
It is no secret that Kyle is a voracious peruser of political news (especially that with a liberal bent) and as such, much of the content on this site is centered around politics and the various issues that politics bring to the table. Coming into the home stretch of this year’s presidential election should be a blast as we are going to have an abundance of content on which to comment and debate.
Having said that, there has been an outcry among many of our faithful readers for some loose policy with regards to comments. So, simply put, if your comment is not considered contributory by our esteemed site managers (Kyle and I), then it may be removed and/or edited. I don’t expect this to happen too often (or potentially at all) but in an effort to maintain the best dialogue we possibly can, we thought this might help.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts over the next couple of months. And yes, this is probably how the Nazis got started.

Kyle’s Addendum
When we remove a comment from the thread, we will not erase the fact that a comment has been made. Instead, we’ll simply remove the text of the comment and replace it with “[Removed By Moderator].” If the gist of the comment furthers the conversation, and there are only a few offending passages, then we’ll edit out those passages and put a notice at the top of the comment, saying “[Edited By Moderator]“.
We reserve the right to remove or edit any comment we deem fit. We promise not to edit or delete based on agreement or disagreement with the comment, but rather, on whether the comment adds anything to the discussion at hand.
This policy is not meant to dissuade anyone from commenting. In fact, it’s meant to encourage more people to add their voice to the mix by promising that their comments won’t be flamed by a string of vitriol.
Both Adam and I thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to reading the insightful comments that will now come from all of you.

wow, censorship at FI… that sucks…
Why not also take step from the political ring after november and get back to why FI was created, a place where creative minds and people can contribute to the Website and post creative posts; be it art, cooking, creative writing. Instead of politics and opinions. I would love to see that come back.
But that’s my personal opinion, and if Adam and Kyle don’t want you to see this they have that right, under their “Big Brother” plan…
LONG LIVE FREEDOM OF SPEACH!
:-)
JK - you guys do what you think would be a benefit to your fellow readers and contributors, I’ll still visit FI daily…
Hey man, those who want to contribute can do so any time they like, whether with art, cooking, creative writing, etc. Officially, we have over a dozen contributors to this site, it’s just that no one except you ever sends me anything anymore.
Now, maybe they’ll blame me for not sending them reminders like I used to, but frankly, that’s no excuse.
i feel like i’ve just been sent to the principal’s office…
Are there any guidelines for what constitutes a “non-contributory” posting? Or will it just be left up to the managers’ general discretion?
Maybe some general rules (e.g. no excessive profanity, no personal attacks, etc) would help this new policy along?
Wow, it’s just like the left wing media to restrict the views of the people. Let’s see first ads then restricting of what can be said. Coincidence? I think not. Seems the corporate world does not like to advertise on sites that use bad words or express different views. Nice.
Dovev — .yeah, that’s basically right. No EXCESSIVE profanity, no personal attacks, etc.
But as Justice Stewart once said, “I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material [to censor]; and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it.“
oh… - you mean the same exact justice stewart who went to yale university and was a member of the skull and bones graduating class of 1937?
well… - i know where he can stick his memorable quotes…
It’s the illuminati, they control everything.
Sounds like you guys just want outside folks to feel welcome here. I can dig it. However, I would like to see a post entitled “Comments Deemed Unacceptable”, where you publish any past comments that caused you to make this executive decision.
I would also like to point out how the sites censorship followed the sites commercial advertising, and how suddenly we’re hearing from Adam. Creepy…
But I’m still cool with it.

I support you guys but I’m slowly getting annoyed. I haven’t figured out whether or not I should stop showing up here under protest. Fortunately though I still have Stern to fight for free speach.
