So Very Vermont

From Servin’ it Up’s So Very Vermont: “In addition to the Spring Open House activities that [the] admissions folks [at Green Mountain College] have been working so hard to put together for this Saturday, [the village of] Poultney will hold its annual MapleFest. MapleFest is a statewide event honoring the sugaring tradition in Vermont, and the Poultney Chamber of Commerce and the Poultney Downtown Revitalization Committee (among others) have put together a great schedule of events for the 29th.” [Interested in taking a trip to Vermont? This weekend might be a good time.]

Why is it MapleFest? Why can’t it be Maple Fest? Is this some sort of C++ function declaration? It seems to me that maple sugaring should be one thing that is impervious to these sorts of contemporary perversions of grammar and good taste. I’m boycotting.

That’s just Servin’ It Up’s way of being hip and cool.

The official name of the event is “Vermont’s Seventh Annual Maple Open House Weekend.”

Then allow me to invoke Hillary Clinton’s oratory tone when I say, “Shame on you, Servin’ It Up!”
