All Moved In
Well, we’re in the new place. Boxes are everywhere. Dawn’s going to town in the kitchen. And my home office is all set-up (minus the DSL because, predictably, Verizon pushed the set-up date back a full week). It was a frickin’ hot and sticky moving day yesterday, but today’s only sticky, which is not TOO bad for unpacking.
We slept in our brand new bed last night, a nice pillow-top mattress from Serta, and my back is like, “Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.” We’ve been on a (real nice) futon for the past two years, but I don’t care how nice a futon is, it ain’t no real bed. Now we have a real bed. Good times.
Dawn is now standing in my office door, pressing the little button that spins her brand new salad spinner, and she’s loving it. That’s the other thing about our unpacking. We’re finally opening up the stuff that we got as wedding presents from our friends and family. New salad spinner, new pots and pans, new ceramic containers, new quilt for our new bed (the quilt is AMAZING and beautiful and homemade, put together by my Aunt Lisa…just an amazing quilt…and it looks amazing on the new bed), etc.
This afternoon, I’m gonna start building the table and stuff for our living room, and probably start unloading our thirteen boxes of books. Hopefully, by Thursday night, this place will be up and running (again, except for the DSL; fucking Verizon!), and this weekend, maybe we’ll throw a little cookout. We’ll see.
Back to things.
