This shit is fucked up right here. Check out Zune Arts. Apparently, it’s a bunch of commercials for Microsoft’s Zune player (its iPod, which is actually being outsold on Amazon by iPod attachments), but you wouldn’t know it from the commerical. Except for the logo at the end, these ads have only the slightest connection to the Zune. But they are fucked up, in a good kind of way.

Wow Kyle, $20.00 accessories are outselling a $250.00 gadget. Stop the presses (pressi?)
I was going to write that yesterday. Actually I was going to say a 20$ accessory for a player that has been for sale for four year out selling a new 250$ player. Get out of town.
Yeah, except the iPod itself, which has been out for four+ years is drastically outselling the Zune, which was meant to be Microsoft’s “iPod Killer”. That statistic, I think, is meant to show that Zune can’t even outsell some of iPod’s accessories, let alone the music player itself.
The 30 gig limit, if i read it right, is the major downfall with the zune.
It has only been out for 30 days so I wonder how they are comparing this to other plyers. Is it just the first 30 day sales? In that time they were the zune as number 2 behind the Ipod which is not bad for a new product.
I also wonder which Ipod are they comparing it to? There are what 5 different ipods now, so the zune would have to be compared to the video-ipod I would assume.
Now we can assume there is a certain market for media players out there and the Ipod already has a large share of this market because of the 4 year headstart, wouldn’t the need for accessories exeed the need for a new media player? If people already have an Ipod chances are they are not going to get a Zume (unless they have a lot of money to throw around) but will need to buy all the crap they need to protect their Ipod.
Really, it was just a little anti-Microsoft dig. The point of this post was to have y’all go check out the website, which has some really cool animated videos on it. What’s more interesting than the iPod accessories outselling the Zune is that, in my opinion anyway, Micrsoft has out-creativitied Apple. The little animated shorts are much, much cooler than the friggin’ dancing silohuettes that Apple’s been shoving down our throat for four years.
And yes, Justin, “out-creativitied” is a neologism.
