Psychologizing with the folks in the blogosphere

:getting:got:some:ass:poop:stank:rank:

These are the links from thought to thought. These are my thoughts of worldy things when my mind drifts, thoughts of images to words, words to words, and words to images. I hear getting and I think got. I here got and I think some. I hear some and I think ass. And so on and so on and so on.

The correct term is word association. It can be a simple game between friends or lovers. It can be something played with people learning a new language. Word associations are used by a number of psychologists, teachers and rivalry siblings.

For example:

  • I say, ninja.
  • You say, merchant of death.
  • I say, scary.
  • You say, your mom.
  • I say, stupid.
  • You say, face.

I am demonstrating in a way that is undeniably simple. This is not to admit to the simplicity of my thoughts or any of our thoughts, but rather to demonstrate something simply, when in fact it is extremely complex.

Why do our brains associate certain words together? Does it mean anything or rather does it mean nothing at all? Most importantly, are we in control of our own thought patterns and/or word associations?

Before I decide to take to much on in this entry, let me refer to the godly Wikipedia, which states:

It is believed by some that this game can reveal something of a person’s subconscious mind…. In the early years of psychology, many doctors noted that patients exhibited behavior that they were not in control of. Some part of the personality seemed to have an influence on that person’s behavior that was not in his/her conscious control.

I do not want to push you further into this subject with my own thoughts and associations. I want to know what you think without the influence of me.

Let me end on this:

:swallow:oral:funny:laughable:me.

fart storm thunder bird jay jay brother broham…I don’t know if that’s what you meant but that was pretty fun. Is it cheating if you start off with a giggly word like “fart”?
