An Open Letter to Ted Haggard

Hi Ted, I wanted to talk to you after seeing some of your recent video appearances. You look, well bad, the weight is tugging down on you, and you can see it.

I want to discuss a serious possibility with you because I’m concerned. Perhaps what you were brought up to believe, your faith in God and belief in the power of Jesus is incorrect. Maybe what you are going through is not planned and delivered to you by a benevolent god. Maybe you are the architect of your life. This could be the way that you understand this.

Maybe the desires you feel for the love of a man is not an ‘evil’, but instead is a randomly generated biological fact?

Just like the fact that you are a man, or have a large possibly frightening smile, or are white.

If what I’ve proposed is true, then the shame and inner turmoil that you are experiencing is not something that needs to tear your life apart, it could be the catalyst to a new understanding and a path to an inner peace.

As one human to another, I wish you the best on your journey and hope that you find the peace you are searching for.

    joshua…

i wanted to talk to you about some of your recent photographs…

i’m concerned about the size of your cock… - now… - most people who have stuck their hands down your pants would agree that you were handed some serious salami… - jew or no jew… - your cock is one of the biggest ever to come out of the swampscott high school…

all of the duct tape that you’ve used to keep your cock plastered to your thigh is really a health hazard… - not only to you… - but… - to the earth as well… - have you ever considered just tying it in a knot or getting another circumcision?

i really didn’t want to have this type of intervention on a public site… - but… - after seeing you trip over your own cock last weekend… - i had to do something…

    it’s time josh… - don’t fight it…

    we’re here to help…

Anyway, that was a totally good piece you wrote Josh. This whole issue confuses me. Well I guess religion in general confuses me.

I was going to tell you to think about sending this letter to Haggard. But unfortunately f*ed up people like this are well beyond help. No, not gay people…Evangelical Republicans.

Yeah, it’s definitely tough to reach people that are so sure of something, but it seems to me that Ted H. is about as close as he can get to bottom right now. That is the classic time to have an epiphany, and maybe the ideas I’ve put forth here can somehow be helpful. Probably not but I guess there’s always a chance.

Plus, Ted Haggard is a regular reader of Fluid Imagination.

Oh wait, I mean Ted Haggerty.

    i am confused too…

    i thought that this letter was a sarcastic one… - hence… - i decided to go off on a perverted tangent…

if someone had wrote a letter like that to me on a public site… - i think that i would never talk to them again… - that kind of letter isn’t for the eyes of other people… - if it was serious…

you shouldn’t have used his real name… - it should have been “an open letter to a friend” and then you should have directed ted to the site… - but… - then again…

    what do i know?

Well David, just to make sure you know, I’m talking about this guy, and we aren’t friends. Actually I didn’t like the guy at all until recently, when I found out about his meth and gay hooker addiction.

I first learned of him while watching Richard Dawkins BBC Special called “Root of all Evil” an investigation in religion. As part of the special he meets Ted Haggard and that was my first notice of him. You can watch the series on Youtube or Google Video. It’s pretty interesting, here are the links
