Secondlife?

I wanted to get some info from the FI readers. How many people are Secondlife users? How many of you even know what Secondlife is?

I thought it might be kind of interesting to have meetings in that virtual space. I know Justin would be really good at meeting Internet friends. Maybe we could open a kind of Virtual Coffee Shop. Witty banter will flow like we were an Aaron Sorkin show.

I tried it once. Downloaded it sometime near the beginning of this summer. Can’t say I enjoyed it. It was slow and lumbering on my 1.25 GHz G4 and broadband connection.

I think when I get into any kind of multi-verse type experience (referencing Cryptonomicon here, Josh; if you haven’t read it, go get it NOW), I’m going to need graphics and movements that are of Half-Life 2 quality.

Gotta say I love the Aaron Sorkin reference though.

    Dontcha mean Snow Crash, Kyle?

I had pretty much the same experience (I also have pretty much the same computer). It was a cool concept, and seemed like there were people having cyber-fun all about…I just lagged too hard to really partake. I remember there being some sort of nudist demonstration going on near the login point, with lots of nekkid people running around holding up picket signs and stuff.
