So Kyle and his lovely chick, Dawn, have asked me to contribute weekly recipes for all you food lovers out there in Fluid Imagination land. I told them that I’d love to, but there is one stipulation: I grill, I smoke, I broil. Which is to say that most of my recipes are going to include some sort of meat. I am sorry to all you vegetarians out there, but if any of you want to leave a “Veggie Alternative” in the comments section of each recipe, then I’m sure some of Kyle’s Vermont hippy friends would appreciate it.
But before we get to the recipes (they’ll start next week), I thought you might want a little introduction to who I am and why Kyle and Dawn asked me to help out.
Some of my friends call me Stumpy. I’ve been cooking for myself for about 20 years. I am not a professional chef in any way, though I have worked in sub shops, pizza parlors, and restaurants for about 15 years. Along with cooking in kitchens, I also run the award-winning Swampscott Sauce Company, which is where I create barbecue sauces, hot sauces, marinades, and dry rubs that stand-out from those character-free, mass-produced products that fill the shelves at your local grocery store. What’s more, I’ve even write my very own cookbook, Stumpy’s Single Guy’s Cookbook, which includes recipes that are easy to learn, fun to make, and great to eat.
Oh, and I am Kyle’s big brother.
Throughout my years, I’ve discovered that pretty much anyone can cook a pretty damn good meal on their own if they chose to. All they need is a little help. That’s where I come in.
All the recipes that I will be posting to Fluid Imagination are going to be relatively easy to make and they won’t need a lot of planning. You don’t need to be a chef to follow along at home, but if you hate to cook, then you’ll probably want to stick with the frozen pizzas and take-out. But if you have even a little ambition to make a good-tasting dinner, than keep checking Fluid Imagination every StumpDay.
Talk to you next week (oh, you might want to get some fresh jalepenos between now and then)

I just want to let you guys know what you’re getting here.
Two nights ago, Dawn and I made a meal out of a couple of recipes in Shawn’s cookbook. One was Honey Roasted Potatoes and the other was Worcestershire Chicken. The whole meal took maybe 45 minutes to make (it takes 35 minutes to roast potatoes, after all). And both Dawn and I were blown away by the flavor. Shawn’s recipe called for two chicken breasts. We cooked up five. And when we were done, we still wanted more. It was just so freakin’ good.
And that’s the way Shawn’s recipes work. They leave you wanting more.
If I were you (or your wife, husband, boyfriend, or girlfriend), I would be very much looking forward to Wednesdays.
Thanks Kyle for the Props…
I’m relatively certain that I know the reason the Swampscott Sauce Company website is down, but I’m interested in purchasing some “rubs” - thoughts?
