Studio 60 on The Sunset Strip

YouTube may take this down soon because of copyright issues, but this is some of the most exciting television I’ve ever seen. It’s a clip from Aaron Sorkin’s new show, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. For those who don’t know, Sorkin was the creator of The West Wing and Sports Night.

This clip misses the first few minutes or so, but here’s what you need to know. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is like The West Wing and Sports Night, except instead of being behind the scenes at the White House or ESPN’s SportsCenter, we’re behind the scenes on a fictional version of Saturday Night Live. Just before the events in the clip, the network censored one of the sketches to be performed that night, and the creator of the show, played by the dude from Taxi, is pissed off about it. The show starts with a sketch about Bush, and then this happens.

Enjoy.

One of my friends, who knows that I’m a die-hard West Wing fan, expected me to write a full-on post about Studio 60 this week. But I’m not going to do it. I want to wait for at least three episodes before even beginning to pass judgement. Usually, six episodes is my judgement making limit, but my fanboy-like nature towards everything Sorkin means that three episodes should do it.

Anyway, you should definitely watch the show. It’s on Monday nights, and it should be good.
