For Exercise in New York Futility, Push Button

From the NY Times: “According to city Department of Transportation officials, more than 2,500 of the 3,250 walk buttons that still exist function essentially as mechanical placebos.” That’s right. In New York City, the buttons that you’re supposed to push when you want to cross the street do absolutely nothing. Wonder how it works in your town.

Similar to continously pushing the up/down buttons on an elevator when deep down you know you aren’t making it move any faster….

apparently, we are all button pushers (and I thought it was just me)
