Jon Stewart Impresses, Once Again

Watch Jon Stewart and Bill Bennett discuss gay marriage, and see, once again, why Jon Stewart is the most impressive individual on television. Colbert is barely worth the stink in Stewart’s poo. I said it, I said it.

You said ‘gay’ and ‘marriage’ in the same phrase, and you blasphemed against Saint Stephen in one post. Special place in Hell, Kyle, special place in Hell…

Wait, the thing with colbert report is not only is it a fake news site colbert is arguing points that he does not believe. Like me on this blog. I think that would be harder then having a team of people research the guests points then come up with counter points like jon stewert does.

It’s not a question of how hard it is to do, but rather a question of who comes off better. Colbert is fucking funny, no doubt, but because he plays a character, he’s not as free to riff whenever the mood strikes him. His interviews are usually lousy because he has to stick to the script.

I’m reminded of a quote I once read from Jerry Garcia, where he said something along the lines of, “The only reason we improvise so much is because we’re not good enough to play it exactly as we do on the records. I went to see the Eagles and I was absolutely blown away by the fact that they didn’t miss a single note. I’m not good enough to do that.”

Question for ya: how many people do you know who have toured with the Eagles?

There’s something special about being able to play to the moment. Colbert doesn’t have that ability because he is playing a fictional character. It’s as difficult as hell, sure, but it’s also not as fun to watch.

I think colberts interviews depend on who is on with him. Sometimes the guest sucks and colbert has to save it all on his own. Take it for what it is, a comedy interview that might touch on serious points in a reach around mannor.

Stewert would be better if he had more then 7 minutes to conduct an interview, because you can not really get down to discussing the main points when you have 2 minutes to set it up, 2 minutes to make fun of it (and he is brilliant at this making comments that put down the point of the guest get the crowd to cheer but interupt the cheering to make it seem like that was not his plan) and then 3 minutes for closing points.

    Either way it is funny.

I’ll take ‘em both. First some spontaneous fun with Stewart and then role playing with Colbert, what more could a gal ask for?
