It’s been a few days since I blogged last. And it’s been a few weeks since I blogged with anything approaching the regularity I hope to achieve. I’ve just been busy procrastinating about all the things I’m supposed to be busy doing.
The good news is that I am mostly done with the stuff I need to do for my grad school application. I had to write a 20-page story. Done. Had to write a six-page personal statement. Done. Had to ask some people to write recommendations. Almost done. Had to get my transcripts sent, which also involves a middle-step of getting my grades from Alaska. That’s 2/3 done. Had to fill out all the basic information for the application. Done. If this entire application process is done by the end of this week, I’ll be very happy.
Adding to the good news: I’ve completed 43% of my senior study. How do I know? Well, I utilize the “Page Goal” feature in my writing application, Copywrite. I also scheduled the date of my presentation, which will be May Day, May 1st. That also locks me into a final due date: April 25th. Holy shit! That’s like two weeks from now! I gotta get moving on that.
What else? Oh, I picked a topic for my paper in Intellectual History of Europe. It’s gonna be on a guy named E.M Cioran, and I’m going to compare his understanding of nationalism with my own. I think.
I’ve been kind of slacking on my Absurdity independent study. The last story I wrote for it was just over two weeks ago, and I’ve been trying to write at least one story a week. My 20-page story for the MFA got in the way. I’ll try to make that up by writing two this week and two next week. That’d be nice.
And I’ve been slacking on my final paper for the Levinas independent study too. I haven’t even looked at it in two weeks. That’s what I do tomorrow afternoon. If everything goes right, I can have this paper done by the end of the week. That would be fucking sweet. I think I only need to write a few more pages. Oh, that would be awesome. Okay. Decision made. I finish this paper this week. Done.
On the more social side of things, Dawn and I went down to Nashua for a wedding this weekend. My buddy Dan got hitched. My car was all busted, and I had to get a new battery installed on the way down, so we missed the ceremony, but we got there in plenty of time for the reception. I’ll try to get the photos up on Flickr this week.
(man, the longer this post gets, the more tasks I add to my week)
It was great to see a group of friends I don’t usually see that often. It was the group I hung out with when I lived in Boston about five years ago. And if Ted Haggerty is not one of my favorite people on this planet, then I’m an unrotatable forearm. Fucker skipped out on the after-party though. Getting engaged really took the youth out of him, I guess. I wish we got to hang out with Jen and Dan a little more (the happy couple), but you know, it’s their wedding and all. Hopefully they’ll come up this summer, and we’ll get to do the cookout thing.
And I think that’s about it. I’m going to try to get a new post up every day this week, but if not, there’ll always be at least a couple of new Asides. Sorry about not being as regular, but it’s getting to be crunch time here in graduating college senior land.
