MoveOn.org is sponsoring a petition in support of Senator Feingold’s resolution to censure President Bush for the illegal wiretapping program. The petition is a form leter that is sent to your congressional representatives in the House and Senate. You can even write your own personal note and add it to the letter. I wrote:
The president has brashly and boldly flouted the rule of law that sustains our society. He seems incapable of understanding that the national security that he tries to find shelter behind is the very thing that he is demolishing. When the rule of law is ignored, one has to wonder what type of nation is being secured.
President Bush should be censured for breaking the law by illegally wiretapping American citizens.
When the president misleads the public and the Congress and willfully and repeatedly breaks the law, there need to be some consequences –that’s how the law works for everybody else. Censuring the president is a reasonable first step in condemning his actions.
Sincerely,
If you think the president of a country whose soveriegn power is based not on a military, religious, or inherited authority but on the democratic agreement to live under a system of man-made laws should have to conduct his actions under such laws, then you too should sign the petition to censure President Bush.

Ya Bro, I went so far as to call my senators, left some messages, nothing like your articulate letter, very well written by the way. But does it really make a difference? I don’t know, I just do it anyway.
You are both on a watch list now.
