I understand what you are saying about learning through writing, and I agree. My issue was the learning more writing. The only way you would learn from more writing is if you already know everything. If you take one subject and learn everything there is to know about it, then you would learn more from writing because those would be new ideas. (2+2=4; 4 being the new idea, 2 being what know about the subject) It is easier to learn about the 2 because someone already did the 1+1=2 for you. Making new thoughts are harder then reading other peoples.

That is all I am saying.

I've watched 3 episodes of the Boondocks. The first was the Martin Luther King special, which was awesome. The other two, I forgot as soon as they finished. I haven't seen it since.

And I am still refraining from entering into the "writing is recording" debate.

Hey kyle I think this might merit a bigger space. These people might have found a cure for AIDS.

Also what I learned this week is that "the boondocks" which is a comic is now a cartoon on adult swim. Great show, great writing and I am white so that says something.

Thanks buddy it took years of repression to hide those memories in the deep casms of my mind. If there is a sudden killing of male gym teachers in the north shore area you can thank leigh.

I would also like to add that I totally enjoy reading Gobbledygook. And I found the rest of the stuff to be most pleasant.

For the Green Mountaineers out there let me tell you about Mr. Defelice. He was our Middle School Phys Ed teacher. After gym he used to stand on a pedestal above the shower stalls where the "controls and valves" were. From here he could look down into the line of showers that the seventh and eighth grade boys were supposed to slowly walk through (like a car wash). We would all line up in our towels, single file in front of the entrance. The opening was across and to the left of his perch. He would then command us, with his arms folded (whistle hanging from neck), to take off our towels and walk through the showers. The showers formed sort of a square and you would exit where you came in. But the longest line was the one directly below the stage from where he watched. And he did watch. That's fucked.

So ask me if I give a shit if some washed up old pervert was fired.

While I agree that by writing shit down forms the basis for ideas, these fragments were already floating around your brain waiting to be put together. Since they were floating around your brain then you already knew them, thus you are not learning anything new. The new part is those fragments put together. This can be called an assumption, a hypothesis, or even an epiphany but it does not make it right. If what you have learned by putting those things together is wrong then you did not learn anything.
Back to the real point
You can argue with me all you want but there is no way you can learn more new things by writing then reading.

So can you learn by writing-yes. Can you learn more by reading-not even a question.
